Georgiy Borisov was born in the capital city of Uzbekistan – Tashkent, where he attended a performing arts school majoring in clarinet. He started studying clarinet with his father, who was his teacher for the eleven years that followed. Georgiy received a full scholarship to attend Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan where he studied with Nathan Williams.
While studying in New York with Mark Nuccio at the Manhattan School of Music, Georgiy maintained a private studio. He also taught at the New York Conservatory and was a substitute teacher for Manhattan School Outreach education program. He is currently an Artist-in-Residence and Principal Clarinet with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra.
