Marcia Working has been a music educator for 30+ years. She has taught elementary music in the Portage Public School district for 27 years, working with students in grades pre-K through 5. She has recently retired from the Portage district.
Marcia is currently the Past President for the West Michigan Orff Chapter. She is active as a clinician for professional development in the areas of Integrating Literature and Music; Concept Based Lesson Planning; What is Orff Schulwerk?; and Music, Movement and the Brain, among other topics. She in her sixth year as a Teaching Artist for Kalamazoo RESA’s Education for the Arts Aesthetic Education Program in the Kalamazoo area.
Marcia has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Central Michigan University, elementary self-contained classroom certification from Western Michigan University; Level 1 Orff Schulwerk training from Madonna University; Level II and Level III Orff certification from Anderson University and a Masters in Education degree from Cornerstone University. She writes and arranges children’s music and plays clarinet in the Kalamazoo Concert Band.
