Stephanie studied flute at WMU with Dr. Charles Osborn and Mrs. Christine Smith. She was principal flute in the WMU Symphonic Band, and also played in the Chamber Winds and Flute Quartet. She has taught flute lessons for the past 11 years, 8 of these with the Suzuki Academy of Kalamazoo. While trained in the Suzuki method of teaching, she also uses traditional techniques and methods to reach students at all levels. In addition to teaching flute, she is a K-5 Music teacher at El Sol Elementary School in Kalamazoo. Stephanie performed with the Silver Lining Flute Duo for 14 years, and also played in the Kalamazoo College and Community Orchestra and Kalamazoo Concert Band. She currently performs with the West Michigan Flute Orchestra. She enjoys performing, but music teaching is her passion!
Stephanie has two daughters who attend WMU and Central High School in Kalamazoo and have been involved in music activities since they were very young. She lives in Kalamazoo with her husband, Chris, daughter Isabel, 2 dogs and 2 cats.
