Loretta Cetkovic

Loretta Lanning Cetkovic, a native of Michigan, is a pianist and teacher in Kalamazoo, MI. She manages an active studio and performs frequently in Michigan as a soloist and collaboratively with local players, such as the Con Anima Duo with cellist Igor Cetkovic.

Loretta completed her graduate studies at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI, studying piano performance and pedagogy with Dr. Alexandra Mascolo-David and Dr. Adrienne Wiley. While at CMU, she was awarded a graduate assistantship and inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, the national music honors society, also serving as Co-President of the MTNA Collegiate Chapter. She completed undergraduate studies at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI, studying piano with Van Cliburn medalist Aviram Reichert and pedagogy with Dr. Helen Marlais.

Loretta, a Founding Teacher in the Music Development Program, has taught music in private schools in Grand Rapids, in Central Michigan University’s Community Music School, and the Stella Royce Piano Camp in Grand Rapids. An avid researcher, Loretta has presented her pedagogic research at Grand Valley State University, Central Michigan University, the Michigan Music Teachers Conference, the University of Michigan’s MTNA Collegiate Chapter, the Ohio Piano Teachers Association, and the World Piano Conference in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Loretta’s students have appeared in festivals, competitions, recitals, and assessments across Michigan, winning prizes for their performances in MMTA’s Student Achievement Testing, the Royal Conservatory’s Music Development Program, and the 20th/21st Century Piano Competition in Allendale, MI.

Melissa Ludwa

Melissa Ludwa earned a Masters in Education in School Counseling and is an Early Childhood Music Specialist. She is a Certification Level I teacher for Music Together and looks forward to making Music Together again with the families at Crescendo Academy of Music in Kalamazoo.

Melissa, has fed her passion for singing by engaging in solo and ensemble work in a variety of genres and venues throughout career. While studying at Butler University in Indianapolis, Melissa participated in workshops with The King’s Singers, Rockapella, and Take 6. She has been a founding member of The Cleveland Chamber Choir as well as Kaleidosong in Cleveland and Six in the City in Indianapolis- two select vocal jazz ensembles. Additional highlights from Melissa’s musical experiences include performing at the Bay View Music Festival near Petoskey, MI; singing live with Bobby McFerrin; attending Master Classes with Diana Krall and Harry Connick, Jr.; and several seasons as an ensemble member and soloist with Encore Vocal Arts in Indianapolis. Perhaps most importantly, Melissa still sings lullabies nearly every evening to her own boys, now ages 5 and 8.

Michelle Bessemer

In addition to teaching for Crescendo, Michelle performs with several area orchestras, including the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Michigan Symphony, Battle Creek Symphony, Toledo Symphony and more.

Denis Shebukhov

In addition to teaching at Crescendo, Denis is an orchestra teacher in the Kalamazoo Public Schools and a frequent performer in the midwest.

Matthew Matuszek

  • Bachelor of Music, Music Education, K-12 Instrumental, Western Michigan University

Matt is based in Kalamazoo. Since graduating in 2011, he has taught at Gull Lake Public Schools, served as the Assistant Director of Bands in Plainwell Community Schools, was the Director of Bands in Forest Hills Public Schools, and has freelanced both locally and internationally. He is a stylistically versatile musician that has experience playing in classical, jazz, chamber, rock, reggae, funk, latin, hip hop, and world music ensembles. Currently, he performs at local theaters, is a member of Big Band Nouveau in Grand Rapids, and collaborates with artists in Indonesia and Syria.
