Community Voices Ensemble

Instructors Corlis Watkins-Nass, Cynthia Cross, and Marcia Working

This ensemble offers musical experiences for teens and adults with a variety of mental and physical challenges. Led by a board-certified music therapist with assistance from community teaching artists, this program provides participants with a unique opportunity to work collaboratively to learn and perform music.

Participants pay only $30 per session; four sessions are held each year. School-year sessions meet Thursdays, 4:05-4:55 pm. The fall session runs September 20 to December 13 (no class on Thanksgiving). The winter session runs January 17 to March 21; the spring session runs April 11 to June 13 (10 weeks). The 8-week summer Session meets Thursdays, 3:00-4:00 pm, and runs from June 27 – August 15. Contact the office for enrollment details.

This program is supported by the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs/National Endowment for the Arts, the Irving S. Gilmore Foundation, the Harold & Grace Upjohn Foundation, and individual donors. Performance venues provided by the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, the Epic Center, and other area businesses and organizations.
